Existing Document Entries can be updated in the archive with metadata, for example if the document definition has been modified with more metadata fields. For this action, you should use the Transfer/Update Journal:

  1. Run the action “Transfer Entries for Update” and select one or more document entries:

  2. Check if the correct document definition no. is filled in the “Doc. Def. No. Assign”. The field “Doc. Def. No. Transfer/Update” should stay empty in this case:

Are the selected documents running documents like Quote, Order, …, the metadata can be created from the assigned archive tables in BC, if the table no. is filled in the document definition and the actual record is not existing anymore.

  1. Post die ready lines: On posting, new records will be added to the ECM Queue. As soon as these are processed, the old document entries will be cancelled and new ones generated. The document reference will stay the same, but the new metadata will be added to the archive:
